Ishkashim District of Tajik Badakhshan is a living museum of diverse Aryan languages. Inhabitants of the Ghoron valley of the District are Tajik Persian speaking people with the Ghoroni dialect, while other residents of the District speak the Badakhshani dialect of the Tajik Persian language as well as ancient Ishkashimi and Wakhi languages. This book includes an unprecedented publication of exclusive fairytales, quatrains and distiches, narratives and legends, proverbs and aphorisms in the Ghoroni dialect of the Tajik Persian language. A vocabulary of the Ghoroni dialect is given at the end of the book. The book is intended for folklore specialists, ethnographers and the general public.
